Bajaj Pulsar 250 In The Works; To Rival Yamaha FZ25 and Duke 250

Bajaj Pulsar 250 is likely to be powered by KTM Duke 250's 248.76cc, single-cylinder petrol engine. - Likely to be launched in 2019, the Pulsar 250 will get ABS, monoshock suspension unit and FI as standard

Homegrown automaker, Bajaj is working on the next-generation Pulsar range. It is confirmed that the company will launch a 250cc Pulsar, which will be the flagship model in its range. The new Bajaj Pulsar range will come with BSVI compliant engines and are likely to go on sale in early 2020. The Bajaj Pulsar 250 is also expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2020 and will be equipped with fuel injection, monoshock and ABS as standard.

The next Pulsar range platform is reportedly to be versatile enough to accommodate engines ranging from 150cc to 250cc. And, this is the reason behind the consideration for a more powerful Pulsar 250. Some media reports claim that the company could use the modified version of the KTM Duke 250’s platform for this Pulsar. Not just platform, the upcoming Pulsar 250 will share the engine with the Austrian’s sibling. This engine will be tuned for better fuel efficiency

Design of the new Bajaj Pulsar 250 will come with an evolved version of the NS200’s design. The model will have modern features like all-digital instrument console, ABS, split seats and slipper clutch. Bajaj currently sells the Pulsar 135, 150, 180 and 220, but the company will retain the 150cc and 220cc variants as they continue to sell in good numbers. The 135cc and 180cc variants are likely to be discontinued. Interestingly, the company might also discontinue the 200cc Pulsars and could launch the RS 250 and NS 250 in the market.

Bajaj Pulsar 250 Specifications

The Pulsar 250 is most likely to share the mechanics and platform with the KTM Duke 250. The motorcycle will get the BSVI compliant version of the 248.76cc single-cylinder petrol engine. It will come with Bajaj’s trademarked triple spark ignition technology. While powering Duke, this engine churns out 29.60bhp of power and 24Nm of torque. The company is expected to de-tune this engine to offer better fuel efficiency. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.

Bajaj Pulsar 250 Mileage

The company will tune this engine for higher fuel efficiency. It is likely to return a mileage of around 40kmpl, which is pretty good for a 250cc motorcycle.

Bajaj Pulsar 250 Design

In terms of styling, the Bajaj Pulsar 250 will retain the sporty stance of the current NS200. Though, design will see several changes to give it a fresh feel. It will come with DRLs, LED headlamp, LED taill-light and LED indicators. The fuel tank will be sculpted more for aggressive styling. The motorcycle is likely to ride on newly developed 17-inch alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres. The motorcycle will be equipped with all-digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. The motorcycle will come with split seats, tyre hugger and a large exhaust pipe.

Bajaj Pulsar 250 Competition

The 2019 Bajaj Pulsar 250 will directly rival the likes of Yamaha FZ25 and KTM Duke 250. This segment will also see the introduction of Suzuki Gixxer 250 in the early 2019.
